Obituary for Norma Hackney Johnson
NORMA HACKNEY JOHNSON was born on June 8, 1961. She was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 16, 2012 after a four year battle with cancer.
Norma was baptized and joined Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Amelia, Virginia. She later became a member of Woodville Presbyterian Church in 2009, where she served as a Deacon, member of the decorating committee and choir. Shortly after graduating from Amelia County High School in 1979, she was employed by Dominion Virginia Power, where she worked for over thirty years.
A devoted mother, Norma loved to travel with her family and friends, have cookouts, and watch her favorite TV show, Law and Order and any show on the Investigation Discovery Channel. But, her first love was spending time with her one and only granddaughter Yasmine, whom she adored.
She was predeceased by her father Curtis Hackney, Sr., sister Joyce Charity, and niece Stephanie Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Michael Johnson, daughter Wendy Johnson, granddaughter Yasmine Johnson, mother Sophia Hackney, brother Curtis Hackney, sisters Shirley Hackney, Robin Slye (Charles), Terry Fuller (Bernard), Crystal Smith (Jerry), Daner Capel (Acie); a host of nieces, nephews and a devoted friend Virginia Hyde.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Tabernacle Church of God, located at 11700 Genito Road, Midlothian Virginia followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. Interment Dale memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Norma to the American Cancer Society.
