Obituary for Mrs. Laura R. Delaney
Mrs. Laura R. Delaney, 101 of Amelia County, VA departed this life on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Wellsprings Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt Booker and Beulah Johnson; along with her brother and sister, Bobby Johnson and Marie Solomon. Her grandchildren Mildred Trent and Bobby Charles Delaney and nephew Henry Solomon.
Laura became a member of Little Union Baptist Church of Amelia County at a very young age. She enjoyed singing and working in the church. She attended the Morvin School.
She married Sidney Delaney and had one son Bobby Delaney. She moved to Philadelphia, PA and lived with her sister for over fifty years where she enjoyed spending time and cooking for her nephews Willie Solomon and Henry Solomon, great nephews and nieces Anthony Solomon, Gregory Solomon, Michael Solomon, Gary Solomon, Fahiym Nasir, Shawn Solomon, Colin Solomon, Angelique McLane, Tracey Ebron, and Kim Solomon. She faithfully attended Wells Temple Baptist Church of Philadelphia, PA.
Mrs. Delaney leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted and loving son, Bobby Delaney (Shirley); daughter, Gracie Wilkerson (Angela, Jackie, and Vernon) and grandchildren Larry Delaney, Alfred Delaney (Ethel), Maurice Delaney, Mary Ann Hill, Anna Marie Bates Smith (Calvin), and Sherita Delaney. Seventeen great grandchildren, Seventeen great great grandchildren, and a host of great-great nephews and nieces. Devoted friends Jestever West (deceased), Emma Jones, Renee Solomon, Willie & Jackie Harris and Family, Brenda Wynne, Dr. & Mrs. Stephenson Bynum, Ruth Boyd, Robert Boyd, Mary Anderson and many other caring friends and family members.
