Obituary for Minnie E. Tucker
Minnie Elizabeth Tucker (Aunt Lucy) departed this life on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcenter and was transitioned to her heavenly home. Daughter of the late Richard and Dora Boyd, she was born August 15, 1915 in Halifax County, VA.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Annie, Robert, Horace, Morris and Emma, and her loving husband, James Alvin Tucker.
Aunt Lucy was educated in Halifax County. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Arbor Baptist Church in Halifax.
She lived in Baltimore, MD, Townson, MD and Chicago, IL for numerous years. After relocating back to Blackstone, she joined Cellar Creek Baptist Church where she served as an usher. Later on she moved her membership to Springhill Baptist Church to be with her husband. In the community she was loved and appreciated, always had a smile and a witty word for everyone.
She leaves to cherish a legacy of precious memories:Â two stepsons, Jesse (Virginia) Tucker and James Lee Taylor; a devoted caregiver and great niece, Mary Darlene Gorham; loving nieces and Nephews, Rosa Adams, Barbara (Jeff) Goode, Horace (Florence) Boyd, Sema (Thelma) Howerton, Lois Younger, Elnora White, Brenda (Joe) Armstead, Glorya (Wondell) Williams, and a host of cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with burial in the church cemetery.
