Obituary for Minister Sandra D. Blackwell
Minister Sandra Day Blackwell was born October 11, 1955 in Crewe, Virginia to Mattie Lee Day and the late William Edward Day, Sr.  She was the fourth child born to this union. She went on to be with the Lord on January 4, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.

She attended Nottoway County Public Schools and graduated from Nottoway County High in 1974. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church. While a member of the church, she served as President of the Universal Choir. She began working at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in 1977, retiring in 2008. While she was there she was a Seamstress and Tailor Supervisor.

In 1999, she was called into ministry. She served as a prayer warrior, intercessor, and on the nursing home ministry through Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries. Sandra was a faithful member until her health began to fail.

Sandra was a kind and loving soul, always willing to keep peace with others in which she came in contact. She was a devoted follower of Christ, who loved to share the Gospel with all she met. She was constantly encouraging, praying for and laying hands on many people. Her loving spirit was felt by all and she was like a mother to many. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to everyone she met.

Sandra is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Trendell and Laurie Clark of Richmond, VA; her mother, Mattie Day of Burkeville, VA; her 6 sisters and 2 brothers, Jeanette Harrison of Richmond, VA; Mattie Nunnally (Melvin) of Rice, VA; Mabel Day of Yorktown, VA, William Day, Jr (Debbie) of Chesterfield, VA, Minister Daisy Foster (Pastor Lowell) of Jetersville, VA; Judith Hudson (Donald) of Harker Heights, TX; Joyce Jefferson of Short Pump, VA; and Joseph Day of Appomattox, VA; 10 nieces and nephews; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that she loved very much.
