Obituary for Millie Rosa Casper
Millie Casper (aka: Millie Rosa, Mills, Granny Ma, Millie Mill) was the 2nd of three children, born in Halifax VA on August 15th, 1935 to the late Rosa White.
Millie was educated in Halifax County. She was a member of the Forth Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior choir until her health failed. Millie worked several jobs throughout her life: Bradshaw’s Restaurant, Weston’s Restaurant, Fort Pickett, and Nottoway Correctional (Supervisor of Food Services) until her retirement. After retirement Millie enjoyed spending time with her family; hosting family gatherings (boy could she fix some good hot rolls).
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Casper Sr. mother Rosa White, siblings; Helen Chambers, and James White; 3 sons: Calvin, Curtis and William Casper, one grandson, De ’Aris Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children: Robert Casper Jr. (Maria) of Prospect, VA; Theodore Casper (Beverly) of Chesterfield, Floyd Casper (Marguretta) of Crewe; Cora Jones (John) of Meherrin, Gloria Evans (Jerry) of Burkeville; 20 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Hazel Fowlkes; 4 sisters-in-law, Annie Williams, Florida Muse, Josephine Coleman, and Nettie Jones. And a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. One brother-in-law Gene Witcher and long-time companion, Frank Jones and one special nephew who is more like a son, Harvey Chambers.
Funeral Services Friday, December 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Crewe. Interment Jackson Cemetery, Crewe.
