Obituary for Mildred L. McClean
Mildred L. McClean, age 83 died at Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn New York on June 15, 2016 following a ten week courageous battle against an aggressive and devastating infection.  Â
 She was born in Burkeville, Virginia on July 6, 1932 to Anna G., and Mallory Miller, the sixth of nine siblings. At an early age she was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church.
 At the age of 18 she migrated to New York City. In January of 1950 she met Keith H. McClean, and married on December 14, 1952 at St. Augustin Episcopal Church. Keith, Jr. was born in July of 1953.
 In 1959 she began working for the New York City Board of Education where she remained until retirement in 1996.
 During this period, while raising a family she function as a school administrator, and a union representative, receiving her Associates degree from Cornell University.
 She traveled the world with her husband of 60 years, enjoyed the company of her family, friends and co- workers.
 She is survived by her son, Keith McClean, Jr. and son Larry Miller and wife Marsha, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and a host of in-laws.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred L. McClean will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Burkeville with burial to follow in the Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.
