Mildred Rebecca Evans departed this life into eternal rest on March 6, 2024 at Farmville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Daughter of the late William and Mary Hicks, she was born on August 14, 1950 and was the youngest of two children.
Mildred was educated in Nottoway County and attended Luther H. Foster High School. At a very young age she was baptized at Union Baptist Church.
After school Mildred was employed at Powhatan prison, later she ventured into nursing and worked many years, later retiring from Piedmont Geriatric Hospital after thirty plus year.
Mildred was patient, humble, compassionate and loving with a heart of gold. She was a wonderful cook and loved shopping. She welcomed whomever she came in contact with and was a mother figure to many.
Mildred loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Edris Goings and son-in-law Calvin Goings; her son Alex Mahan; grandchildren Melvin Rogers, Eboni Goings, Alex Mahan and one great grandchild Jahiem Rogers; step children Arsheen Brown, Rasheem Brown, Shawanti Vaughn, Piper Moore, Micheal Moore, Micheal Evans Jr., Tony Evans and twenty-two step grandchildren; one brother William Hicks Jr. (Carrie); one nephew Nathan Hicks (LaShawn); and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
