Obituary for Mildred Claire Shepard
MILDRED CLAIRE FOGENAY SHEPARD, daughter of Ernest and Mildred Fogenay fell asleep in death on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the age of 64.
Mildred was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in December 1956 in New York City. She was attending Petersburg Spanish congregation where she zealously served in the ministry. Prior to being in the Spanish congregation, Mildred attended the Blackstone congregation from which she and her family came from New York City to serve where the need was great.
Mildred was born in New York, NY on October 3, 1943. She was the fourth of six children. She worked at Citizens Bank and Trust Company for twenty-nine years as a computer operator.
She leaves behind those who loved her dearly: Her husband Alfred O. Shepard, Sr. with forty-four years of marriage; her children, Shelita Powell, Felicia Fields, Alfred O. Shepard, Jr., Jonathan Shepard, Simeon Shepard and Joshua Shepard; her sons-in-law, Floyd Fields and Gerald Powell; her daughters-in-law, Seneiatra Shepard, Monique Shepard and Patsy Shepard; her grandchildren whom she was so dearly proud of Justin, Jazmin, Keshawn, Jayla, Jayden, Jacob, and Jordyn; she also leaves behind her two sisters, Esther Fogenay and Deborah Guerin both from New York, along with many nieces and nephews. We will all miss our dear precious sister whom we loved with all our heart.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Blackstone, VA.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of the arrangements.
