Obituary for Michael Toray Yancey
MICHAEL TORAY YANCEY (MIKE) was born November 8, 1967 to Barbara Yancey and Morris Bland, Jr. He was loved and raised by the late Willie (Billy T.) and Gracie Lee Jones.
At a very early age he was baptized and joined the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Royal J. Nickens. Michael attended school in Nottoway County and graduated from Nottoway Senior High School in 1987.
Michael loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music, watching sports (New York Giants) and going fishing with his sons. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted father.
Michael leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother, Barbara Yancey (step-father, Robert Hardy); father, Morris Bland, Jr.; two sons, Michael Jr. and MyKwan Yancey; one daughter, Ma’Eveya Yancey; his beloved partner for years and the mother of his children, Stephanie Watson; three brothers, Eric L.Yancey, Carroll R. Yancey and William Holman; a devoted sister, Ella Thompson of Upper Marlboro, MD; four nieces, Rashell and Takira Yancey, Shelvron and Shantel Holman; three nephews, Shamar Holman, Reggie and Donnie Thompson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
