Michael Russell Jefferson departed his life on May 27, 2016 at Chippenham Hospital Richmond, Virginia. Michael was born to the union of the late Deacon Daniel and Inez Jefferson on April 19, 1950 in Crewe, Virginia. One sister proceeded him in death, Carol Jefferson.
Michael was educated in Nottoway County Public Schools. Michael joined Union Baptist Church at an early age.
Michael was employed by Norfolk and Western Railroad. He worked various other jobs. He retired from his business “Mike’s Cleaning Service”. This business provided job opportunities for many family and friends.
Michael was an avid Hot Rod enthusiast. He spent countless hours enjoying this hobby.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 31 years Hazel O. Jefferson. One daughter, Michelle Celestine Jefferson (Shelly). Two children he loved as his own; Theresa and Frankie Oliver. Two granddaughters and three grandsons. Three brothers, Clarence (Judith) of New York, William (Dorothy) of Ohio, Herman Jefferson of Georgia. Four sisters Carolyn Beverly (Charles) of Burkeville, Laura Nunnally (Calvin, Sr.) of Burkeville, Inez Jeter (Milton) of Connecticut Hermania Lewis of Chester, VA, and a step- sister Beatrice Bush of Richmond, VA. One sister-in-law, Eunice Harper (Lonnie) and one brother-in law Junious Oliver. Ten loving nieces and seven nephews. Devoted friends Walter Robertston, Barry Hubbard (cousin) and Jencie Mack of Georgia.
Funeral Services Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Jefferson Family Cemetery, Burkeville.
