Michael Anthony Johnson (Ropey), son of the late Goldie Love was born March 11, 1967.
“Ropey” as he was known by was educated in Prince Edward public school system. He grew up in Farmville and Richmond VA. Later in life he moved to Blackstone where he attended steps adult daycare and then later became a faithful employee at Walmart for 15 years
“Ropey” whose favorite saying was (I ain’t no boy) got his nickname from his siblings because he never could jump rope.
He never met a stranger, everyone he came in contact with loved him and made a special bond with him. “Ropey” loved music dancing, talking trash and being around family and friends and in return we loved being in his presence.
In 2023, Ropey moved with his sister (Linda) and brother-in-law ( kick) were he stayed until his sudden death on December 2, 2024, which saddened the community
Ropey is preceded in death by his mother Goldie Love and step father Lawrence Love; brother Kevin Johnson; sisters Selena Taylor and Syletha Bell; grandparents Maceo and Nannie Johnson.
“Ropey” leaves to cherish his memories: devoted sisters Sylinda Johnson (kick) and Stephanie ( Martin) Owens; brother Andre (Gloria) Johnson; grandmother Dorothy Madison; two aunts; one uncle; God mother Alma Dodson; god sisters Rita Dodson and Daphanie Dodson; god brother Corey Dodson; devoted brother-in-law James Bell; devoted cousin Lorenzo Johnson; nieces nephews and cousins.
