Obituary for Michael A. Gregory
On September 6, 2022, Michael A. Gregory departed his life at VCU Community Memorial Hospital. He was born in Nottoway County on April 12, 1962 to Mary V. Gregory and the late James Walker, Jr.
Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert Gregory and Virginia Smith.
Michael attended Nottoway County Public School and graduated in 1980. He was an all star basketball player. After completion of high school, Michael worked various jobs including construction, paving and carpentry. He was baptize at an early age at Jones Baptist Church. He was a diehard Raiders and Lakers fan.
Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories: a loving mother, Mary V. Gregory of Blackstone; one daughter, Trechelle Bassfield (Sylvester) of Blackstone, VA; brothers, James Gregory of Blackstone, VA, Draper Hawkes of Blackstone, VA and Michael Hawkes of North Carolina; two sisters, Dene Lawson of Chesterfield, VA and Regina Gregory (Kevin) of Blackstone, VA; one grandson, Zamir Stith of Blackstone, VA; five nieces, LaKiesha, Ketoria, Janaiya, Janaria and Jocelyn; one loving nephew, Willie Lawson; two special friends, Charlie Stith and Charmora Stith.; and a host of aunts, uncle, family and friends, to many to name..
Viewing Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 12 to 7PM. Funeral Services Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 2:00PM at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment Greemview Cemetery, Blackstone.
