Obituary for Mia Nichelle Williams
MRS. MIA NICHELLE PLATT WILLIAMS, was born in Nottoway County, December 8, 1970, to Ruth Coleman, Amelia, VA, and Edward Platt, Miami, FL. She was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 12, 2012. She married Tony Williams on May 15, 1995, and to that union had two beautiful children.
She joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by Reverend David Gordon and was an active member until she moved away. She attended Mt. Gilead Church in Richmond, VA, but remained a member of Mt. Nebo under the pasturage of Reverend Joseph B. Fields, Jr.
She graduated from Nottoway Senior High School in 1988 and attended James Madison University. She served four years in the United States Army. She worked at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital as a surgical nurse until her death and was well loved by her co-workers.
She leaves to mourn her loss: daughter, Jasmyn, son Tyrese, her mother and father, sister, Lisa Platt Bailey, Key West, FL, and favorite nephew Colin Bailey and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was the financial secretary of the ZETA CHAPTER, INC. of CHI ETA PHI Sorority, INC. She was also treasurer of The Divine DIVAS Social Group and was very close to her sorority sisters.
On Saturday, November 17, 2012, public viewing will be from 2-3:30 p.m. followed by a private memorial service at Hawkes Funeral Home, Blackstone, VA. Interment will be in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA, on November 19, 2012.
