Peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023, our Heavenly Father touched Melvyn Wellington Jarmon and said “My child, it’s time to enter into eternal rest where you will be free of pain, suffering and find rest from your labor. Melvyn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1941, to the late Robert and Elizabeth Jarmon. Early in his life, Melvyn accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
Melvyn was a graduate of Simon Gratz High School. He also attended Lincoln Automotive School, where he received a professional Doctor of Motors Certification. After completing his education, he obtained employment with the Philadelphia Navy Shipyard as an Engine and Pump Operator and the United States Mint Reserve, where he was employed over a total of 30 years. Melvyn was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army. He also loved Karate and he obtained a Black Belt in Karate.
On July 18, 1970, Melvyn married the love of his life, Carolyn Wiggins and for over 52 years, they have remained a loving, caring and devoted family.
Melvyn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother DeForest, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law. He leaves to cherish his legacy of love, his supportive and loving wife, Carolyn Jarmon. One daughter, Sarah Jarmon, Fort Worth, Texas. One granddaughter Aria. Our devoted niece, Adriene. Two sisters, Millicent Wiggins, and Muriel Palmer, one brother-in law Howard Wiggins (Betty), one sister-in-law Barbara Hardy. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing: Monday, January 30, 2023 at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home (Amelia) from 10:30am-12:30pm.
Funeral Service: Monday, January 30, 2023 at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home (Amelia) at 12:30pm.
Interment: Monday, January 30, 2023 at VA Veteran Cemetery at Amelia at 2pm.
