Melvin Randolph Claiborne, Sr., age 59 of 10918 Zilles Road, Blackstone, peacefully slipped away on April 23, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Melvin, son of the late Orphan Lee and Annie Claiborne was born November 11, 1948.
At an early age he joined Poplar Lawn Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and received many recognitions from the United States Army for his service.
Left with precious memories of his life is his devoted and loving wife, Beverley Wynn Claiborne; two devoted sons, Maurice and Melvin (Randy); his mother, Annie H. Claiborne; brother, Howard Leon Claiborne (Judy); father-in-law, James A. Wynn, Sr.; brothers-in-law, David and James Wynn; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Wynn, Sylvia Pegram and Jeanette Wynn; Shataqua Thornton, the daughter he never had; niece, Samira (Chris) Willis; uncle, Ernest Hawkes; aunts, Georgia Evans, Ethel Jordan and Dollie Forney; many cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, Blackstone with intement in the church cemetery.
