Sister Johnson joined the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend L. A. Wilson. She was educated in Nottoway County.
Sister Johnson relocated to New Jersey for work. She then returned home after years of work to take care of her mother. She reunited with the church, attended services and was a member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry.
Later in life her health began to fail and she was unable to attend services, but she would always inquire about the church activities and the Pastor.
She leaves a brother, Roy Johnson; several faithful nieces, Connie Scott and Veronica Henson; several faithful great nieces, Shiras Craig and Sharanda Henson; a faithful great nephew, Lee Scott, Jr.; nieces, Beverly Clay, Patricia Greenhill, Carolyn Farrar, Brenda Cathbert, Janice Plumer, Jan Miller, Karla Hart and Jennifer Huerta; nephews, James Hobbs, III, Keith Johnson, James Foster and Rodney Herndon; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
