Obituary for McKinley M. Jasper
McKinley (Jake) Jasper departed this life on December 29, 2012 at McGuire Veterans Medical Center in Richmond, VA.  An angel of mercy came into our midst and gave our loved one eternal rest.  Jake (as he was affectionately known), son of the late McKinley and Senia Jasper was born on May 12, 1930.  he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Jasper and a brother Roosevelt Jasper.
Jake was educated in the Amelia County schools.  He received the Lord at a young age at Liberty Baptist Church in Amelia, VA.  He enlisted in the United States Army Infantry Division and served in the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged from the Army.  Jake was employed by Richfood, Inc. from which he retired.
He leaves to cherish his memories:  three daughters, Doris Mayo (Monroe) of Amelia, Elaine Howell devoted (Warren) of Amelia and Teresa Brown of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Taj Howell, Sr. (Shannon) of Amelia, Tonja Mayo of Chester, and Tierra Mayo and Tasha Howell of Amelia; two great grandchildren, Taj, Jr. and Tashyah both of Amelia; four brothers, Walter Jasper (Mary) of Amelia, Lawrence Jasper (Mattie) of California, William Jasper (Gail) of Powhatan, and George Jasper (Robin) of New Jersey; two sisters, Nannie Sheff (Herman) of Maryland and Emma Rodwell of Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law, Doris Rudd (Frank) of Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, among them two devoted great nieces, Sharonda Jasper and Vershori Garland; and a devoted caregiver, Emma Butler.
Jake was loved by many and known for his comical demeanor.  He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 12901 Genito Road, Amelia, VA  23002.

Funeral Services Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
