Obituary for Maude Elizabeth Lee
MAUDE ELIZABETH CRAFT LEE, the sixth child of the late Malachi and Elva Craft, was born September 2, 1943, in Nottoway County, Virginia. She entered eternal rest June 16, 2021, at the age of 77. She has three brothers, Gerald Craft and Harry Craft (deceased) and Ralph Craft; five sisters, Martha Ingram, and Mary Jackson (deceased), Grace Ross, Doris Craft and Tina Craft.

At an early age Maude accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized, along with her sister Grace and Father, at Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Maude attended school in Nottoway County and graduated second in the Class of 1962 from Luther H. Foster High. In 1972, she attended Southside Virginia Community College and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree (Secretarial Science). Maude served as secretary for two years at Luther Foster High (1962-1963) under the principalship of Joseph B. Pervall. She worked at Levi Strauss for six years before attending SVCC. In 1974, she was employed at Saint Paul’s College where she served as secretary in several areas; and after 30 plus years, she retired as Administrative Assistant to the President.

In 1963, Maude married James Howard Lee and to that union, they were blessed with four children: Patrick Jerome (deceased), Sherry Casonia, Patricia Latrece, and Jermaine Devron Lee.

After her marriage she joined Spring Hill Baptist Church, serving as Financial Secretary for 30 years. She also served on the Hospitality Committee, Pastor’s Aide and Women’s Ministry.

Maude was a member of the Bethune Chapter No. 224, Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated of Virginia where she did serve as Worthy Matron during her tenure. She was a member of the Luther H. Foster High Alumni Association where she served as Assistant Secretary, Class Coordinator, kept an active list of all classes and its members, and worked diligently to help keep the school’s name alive.

To cherish her memory, Maude leaves her children: Sherry Hankins (Landsford), Patricia Tucker (Kenneth) and Jermaine Lee, all of Richmond, Virginia; a grandson, Eli Hankins and a granddaughter, Jaycie Lee, both of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, Ralph Craft, Rice, Virginia and like-a-brother, Russell Jackson, Jr. (Madeline), Crewe, Virginia; sisters: Grace Ross, Farmville, Virginia; Doris Craft, Richmond, Virginia; and Tina Craft, Washington, DC; Godson, Anthony Craft, Richmond, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Hawkes and Joyce Moseley (Tim), Richmond, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Meredith Lee, Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Maude has made the transition from her Earthly Home with Family and Friends to a place of everlasting peace with her Mother and Father in Heaven.

Viewing for Mrs. Lee will be Friday, June 25, 2021 from 11 AM to 7PM and family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 PM.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.
