Obituary for Mattie Lee Day
Mattie Lee Day was born February 15, 1935 in Rice, Virginia to the late Deacon Albert Lee and Mable Miller Lee.
Mattie attended Prince Edward County Public Schools. She joined High Rock Baptist Church at an early age. She sang in the church choir and served on other committees. She retired from Stackpole Component Company. After retirement she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Richmond, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Deacon William E. Day Sr., two children Minister Sandra D. Blackwell and Joseph A. Day, and son-in-law Pastor Lowell Foster; nine siblings: Benjamin Lee, Omega Johnson, Vera Flippin-Fitzgerald, Janet Pewitt, Clinton Lee, Perry ‘Banks’ Lee, Murray Bennett, Lewis Lee and James ‘Mark’ Lee.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Jeanette L. Harrison, Mattie ‘Marie’ Nunnally (Melvin), Mabel Day, William E. Day, Jr., (Deborah), Apostle Daisy Foster, Judith D. Hudson (Donald), Joyce D. Jefferson; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two adopted great grandchildren; one brother: Alvin ‘Jake’ Lee (Helen); two sisters-in-law Queen Lee and Mary ‘Iona’ Lee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at High Rock Baptist Church, Rice, VA. Interment Star Hope Cemetery, Rice.
