Obituary for MaryAlice Booker
God’s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, as God was walking around, He looked down from heaven, saw beautiful full-blossomed roses, MaryAlice Booker, her mother, Jacqueline McCoy, her brother, Anthony McCoy and her sister-in-law, Tameka Foster and immediately dispatched four of his angels to bring them home.
MaryAlice Booker affectionately known as “Mary”, beloved daughter of Gregory Nash and Jacqueline C. McCoy was born Saturday, September 26, 1981, in Riverhead, New York.
As a teenager, she joined the Center Union Baptist Church in Powhatan, VA. Mary loved to sing and very soon after her baptism, she joined the church’s choir, “The Voices United in Christ”.
Mary graduated from Cumberland County Public Schools in 1999. Shortly after graduation, she fulfilled her passion of caring for people by going into the field of nursing. Later in life, she pursued her licensure as a certified nursing assistant.
Mary was an avid reader, she loved music and enjoyed watching movies – her favorite movies were, “The Five Heartbeats” and “The Color Purple”. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always kept in touch with them no matter how near or far they were.
On Tuesday, July 4, 2000, she gave birth to her daughter, J’Nya Aleece Pace, who was the “Center of her World”.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Mary Brunskill and Alice Booker; her grandfather, Lester McCoy and her brother, Aaron Simpson.
Mary is truly going to be missed - her beautiful smile and sweet voice and her upfront and honest advise, she will tell you what you needed to hear and not what you wanted to hear!
She leaves to mourn and cherish her precious memories the love of her life, her daughter, J’Nya Aleece Pace; father, Gregory Nash (Jeannie); grandfather, John Nash “Papi”; aunt, Martha James “Auntie”; brother, Gregory Nash, Jr. (Osiris); sisters, Towanda Davis (Tory), Tammy Simpson, Tara Simpson, sister/godmother of her daughter/best friend of 19 years, Tiffany Booker Langhorn (Christopher); adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trent, Jr. “Pedy & Tina” and Parena Crump “Granny”; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends - two special friends, Dearta Bland and Shirley Hughes.
A memorial service for Mary and her brother Anthony McCoy will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Center Union Baptist Church, Powhatan. Interment Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Cartersville, VA.
