Obituary for Mary Sallie Jones
Mary Sallie gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She served in various capacities, such as Sunday School teacher, choir member, cooking committee, Pastor's Aide, and was often the first one at church and the last one to leave. Mary Sallie was a faithful and dedicated member of the Sunday School Union for over thirty years and she looked forward to Vacation Bible School every summer. Mary Sallie attended Luther H. Foster High School and was of the class 1952. She was employed by Stackpole, The Veneer Plant, Homehealth, and Weston's. Mary Sallie was known for her love of cooking and baking. She also was "the great debater", especially when it came to the Bible. We are sure she is in heaven telling Jesus about Jesus!

Mary Sallie married the late Willie Jones on December 3, 1960 and seven children came from this union.

Mary Sallie was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, George Whitehead; granddaughter, Shanika Jones; brothers, Gerald and Robert Bland; sister Doreatha Bland; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memories: her seven children, Nathan (Vanessa) of Richmond, VA, Willie, Jr. (Yvette) of Chester, VA, Darryl of Victoria, VA, Allan of Crewe, VA, Patricia of Crewe, VA, Timothy of Atlanta, GA, and Faith (Leon) of Raleigh, NC; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen, Ronald, Alice (George), James, Margaret (Roscoe), and Charles (Shirley); brothers-in-law, Charlie and Herbert. Mary Sallie will be missed by a host of other relatives, friends, and church family.
