Obituary for Mary P. Jones
On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, God called one of His cherished children home with Him. We know that she will be truly missed down here on Earth but God was ready for her to take a seat by Him in Heaven.
Mary Pegram Jones, age 71 entered eternal peace at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA with her son and daughter-in-law sitting right by her side.
Mary, the second child of ten, was born in Amelia, VA on March 7, 1942 to the late Deacon Thomas and Ethel Pegram. She was baptized and joined Little Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated at Russell Grove School and graduated in 1961. She retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools in 2008 with twenty-three years of dedicated services.
Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Jones for forty-nine years and from this union they were blessed with a dedicated son.
She leaves fond and loving memories to be cherished by: her husband, Thomas Jones; son, Darnell Jones (Virginia); two granddaughters, Darnesha and Darnae Jones; siblings, Leverta Patrick, Hazel Reed (John), Samuel Pegram (Deborah), Benjamin Pegram (Mary), Roberta Pegram, Katherine Bradley, Rosa Bradley (Bruce), LaVern Pegram-Jefferson and Barbara Thompson (William), all of Amelia, VA; in-laws, Rosa Jones, Robert Jones (Catherine), Walter Jones all of Amelia, and Claude Jones, Jr. of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, one devoted Mary Jackson.
Funeral Services Monday, June 3, 2013 from Little Bethel Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in
the church cemetery.
