Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Hurt
Mary E. Wren Hurt, a true soldier in the army of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ departed this life on October 10, 2021 at her residence in Crewe, VA. Daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Wren, she was born on April 30, 1920 in Lunenburg, VA.

Mary was educated in the Lunenburg County public schools. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Rehoboth, VA. She sang with the choir and was a faithful member. After serving at many churches, Mary became a member of Levi Baptist Church with her husband Cammie. She sang on the choir, was a member of the Deaconess Board where she served as secretary. She was also the Mother of the church.

Mary was a member of Evergreen-Benjamin Chapter #64, Order of the Easter Star of VA, PHA, where she was a past matron. The attributes that stands out most were her meekness, humbleness and temperance. She was a Christian Lady.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted cousin, whom she always called her daughter, Ruth Whitehead Jackson (James); a host of cousins and friends; and care taker, Linda Bowler.
