Obituary for Mary E. Holmes
On Friday morning, August 12, 2011, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Holmes departed this life at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Maryland. Daughter of the late Hubert and Eva Thornhill, she was born October 25, 1927 in Roanoke, VA.
She grew up in Roanoke, VA where she received her formal education.
She married Willie M. Holmes, Sr., who preceded her in death and to that union five sons were born.
Mary, who was a loving wife and mother leaves to mourn:Â three sons, Willie M. Holmes, Jr., James Holmes of Blackstone, VA and Ralph (Angela) Holmes of Joppatown, MD; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three daughters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted neighbors and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
