Obituary for Mary D. Gorham
Mary Darlene Adams Gorham, daughter of Rosa Howerton Adams and the late William Adams was born on November 13, 1955 in Blackstone, VA. She slipped into a peaceful rest at her residence on October 29, 2019.
Mary received her education in New York, Tacoma, WA and Washington, DC. At an early age she accepted Christ into her life and was baptized at Poplar Mount Baptist Church.
Mary moved to Washington, DC and was employed at the White House during the Clinton Administration. Later she moved to Blackstone, VA to care for her grandmother and great aunt. While in Blackstone she was employed as clerk in Nottoway and as a dispatcher in Dinwiddie County.
Mary married the love of her life, George Gorham, this union was blessed with one son, George William Gorham.
Mary became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was an usher, Administrative Secretary, part of the drama ministry and a founding member of LCCDC.
Mary leaves to cherish her fond memories: her husband of thirty-seven years, George; two daughters, Wanda (Curtis), and Jewel; three sons, George William, Steven and Devanta; seven grandchildren; her loving mother, Rosa Adams; two aunts, Thelma Howerton and Alma Clayton (Ralph); devoted cousins, Terry Robinson, Sherry Coates, Jesse and Virginia Tucker; a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Mary D. Gorham will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.
