Obituary for Mary C. Booker
MRS. MARY COLEMAN BOOKER, aka Ga-Ga Mary to Wanda and Zakiya and Nannie to the rest, was born October 16, 1927 to Junious and Celestine Banks. She departed this life on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at her home surrounded by family.
She attended Amelia County Public School. She was a faithful member of Manassa Hill Baptist Church were she served as a Deaconess, a member of the Missionary Board, an Usher, a member of the Hospitality Committee, and also sang on the Senior Choir.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of fifty-two years, Elmore Booker; her mother and father; two sisters and three brothers, Frances, Ernestine, Harold, Henry and Lynn.
She leaves to cherish her life and fond memories to:Â four children, Robert Booker of Baltimore, MD, Hazel Harris (George) of Powhatan, Diann Curtis of Richmond and Harriet Lawrence of Blackstone; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Coleman of Blackstone; one sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Coleman of Amelia; one brother-in-law, Howard Edmonds of Blackstone; god-child, Cedric Coleman; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; special caregiver of Piedmont Resources, LaFonda Eppes.
Funeral Services Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Manassa Hill Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
