Obituary for Mary Ann Green
After a long illness, Mary Ann Green departed this life on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Regeis Care Center Nursing Home in Bronx, NY. Mary Ann was born on April 10, 1940 in Blackstone, VA to Charlie Lewis Epes and Ella Mae Stewart Epes. Mary Ann grew up in Blackstone, VA and joined Mount Gazerine Baptist Church at an early age. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, NY.

Mary Ann graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1958 and moved to Brooklyn, NY immediately after graduation. She received a degree in nursing and worked for many years as a registered nursing supervisor at Split Rock Nursing Home, Bronx, NY.

Mary Ann was united in holy matrimony to Linwood Green 58 years ago on February 27, 1960 and through this union had two sons, Linwood Tyrone Green and Charles Leonard Green. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family, plants and special pets, Mikey and Sparkle. Mary Ann shared her enthusiasm and loving spirit by always having room for one more at the table, and found extra joy in inviting people for cookouts when she and Linwood were at their home in Nottoway, VA.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Linwood Green, Bronx NY; two sons, Linwood Tyrone Green and Charles Leonard Green, Bronx, NY; three sisters, Marion Jones, Virginia Beach, VA, Beatrice Chandler, Brooklyn, NY and Betty Hobbs, Alexandria, VA; two granddaughters, Latasha Nicole Green, Atlanta, GA and Dominique Sade Green, Stratford, CT; one brother-in-law, Howard Green, Nottoway, VA; two aunts, Carrie Epes, Blackstone, VA and Annie Lyons, Washington, DC; one uncle, Harry Gilbert Epes, Blackstone, VA, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Mary Ann’s caregivers at the nursing homes, hospitals and home care assistants who provided support to Mary Ann and the family.

Funeral Services Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Nottoway.
