Obituary for Marjorie W. Green
Surrounded by her family, Marjorie Wilson Green left this earthly tabernacle and went home to be with the Lord and her beloved Clarence on August 30, 2014. Marjorie was a native Blackstone, VA; the youngest child born to the late James and Lilia Wilson.
Marjorie lived in the Richmond area for over 55 years, and was the co-owner of C.W. Green, General Hauling for over 35 years. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, supportive sister and wonderful friend. She was a mother to anyone who needed mothering and called “Mama” by her children and many with whom she was acquainted. An avid baker, her homemade rolls, chocolate cake, and banana pudding were legendary. She was an active member of Swansboro Baptist Church, serving as a dedicated member of the hospitality committee, usher and deaconess, until illness left her unable to attend.
Marjorie is survived by two sons, Lawrence Sr. and Clarence Jr., two daughters Grace Massenburg and Ruth, son-in-law, Sean Massenburg, and three grandchildren, Lawrence Jr., Chanell and Cherelle Massenburg and grandson-in law to be David Smith. She is further survived by two sisters; Ruth McAllister of Mitchellville, MD, and Ann English of Portchester, NY, one brother Earl Jones of Blackstone, VA, two brothers-in-law; Karl Green Sr. of Blackstone, VA, and Henry Green (Della Rose) of Newport, News, VA and five sisters-in-law; Annie Lucille Jones of Blackstone, VA, Thelma Purcell of Baltimore, MD, Ruth Campbell (Charlie) of Clinton, MD, Joyce Green of Washington, DC and Cordelia Green of Suitland, MD a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mama and Daddy are back together again, we will miss her sweet smile, but we know there is no other place she’d rather be.
