Obituary for Marjorie E. Perry
On Thursday, June 13, 2013 , Marjorie Eliza Perry went home to be with the Lord. Marjorie was born October 29, 1939, in Amelia, VA to the union of Jesse and Virginia Mondrey, both of whom proceed her in death.Â
Marjorie accepted Christ at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and attended until she moved to Richmond, VA. After moving to Bronx, New York she attended various churches.
Marjorie graduated from Russell Grove High, where she graduated a salutatorian of her class. She graduated as a Beautician from the Apex School of Beauty in Richmond, VA. After finishing beauty school Marjorie returned to Amelia, where she open a Beauty Salon at home and worked along side her father who was the town barber. Marjorie later move to Bronx, New York and received a Liberal Arts Degree from the Bronx Community College/University of Bronx New York where she maintain a 4.0 average in her class.  Marjorie was joined in marriage to the late James Perry in the year of 1972.Â
Marjorie loved to read, make jewelry and arts and crafts. She was employed by Avis Reservation Center, New York City, Five Star Daycare Center, Bronx, New York and Friends Association For Children as a Pre-School Teacher for over 25 years. Her passion for children was amazing, she made sure that each child that she taught was well prepared to go to the next level of education. After retiring, she worked part-time at the Grace Place Adult Day Care Center.Â
Marjorie was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Mae Jackson, Charlotte Mondrey, three brothers, John Henry and Joseph Mondrey and Jackie Turner.
Those left to cherish her memory are a devoted son, Kevin Mondrey of Richmond, VA. Three sisters Martha Jones, Marie Mickie (Thomas), Lucille Whitaker (Johnnie), all of Richmond, VA. Two brothers, Edward Mondrey (Doris), of Amelia, VA and Oliver Mondrey (Nancy). of Richmond, VA. Sisters-in-laws Carrie Mondrey of Amelia, VA and Dorothy Turner of Richmond, VA. A special devoted friend of the family, Christine Clark Thompson of Richmond, VA  and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
