Obituary for Marion W. Brown
Marion W. Brown of Richmond, Virginia departed this worldly world and entered her heavenly home, December 2, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born January 13, 1945 in Crewe, Virginia. She joined Eleven Oaks Baptist Church at an early age. In 1965, she joined the late James A. Brown, Sr. in holy matrimony at Eleven Oaks Baptist Church. In this marital union two children were born, Cassandra D. Brown and James A. Brown, Jr.

Marion was proceeded in death by her parents, Howard and Gertrude Watson; biological parents Charlie L. Stokes and Lottie Green; and her step-mother, Dorothy E. Stokes and brother Charlie Stokes (aka Bubba).

Later in life Marion joined Gravel Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully served the Lord and sung on the choir.

Marion was employed at Craddock Terry, and Stack Pole Component Industries in Farmville, Virginia. Later she decided to further her education at Kee Business College in Richmond, Virginia where she received a diploma in Information Processing. After receiving her diploma, she decided to broaden her horizon and move to Richmond, Virginia to work at Investors Mortgage Company. After her employment with Investors, she was employed at American Home Funding and later, Senior Connection until her health prevented her from working. With God’s Grace and Mercy, Marion was able to continue to strive for success. In June, 2015, she received her Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistant from Centura College at the age of 70 (a job well done) in Midlothian, Virginia.

Marion became a member of Out of Our Way into His Way Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia. She loved her Pastor, Charles R. Adams, First Lady, Mrs. Kate and her entire church family. She also attended services with Pastor Randy and Linda Sawlsville where she resided at Brook Run at the Atlantic apartments in Richmond, Virginia. Marion loved the community she resided in. She was always willing to offer a helping hand by providing transportation services or whatever was asked of her. Marion loved the Lord and no matter where she worshiped she often expressed, “how she was a believer not a debater” when it came to her faith. Marion enjoyed laughter and conversation with many friends and to name a few devoted friends: Sarah Thompson, Mary Harris, Mary Robinson, Bernice Fowlkes, Nancy King, Nora Smith, Felicia Brown, Josephine Forrest and the many friends at Brook Run apartments.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: Her daughter, Cassandra D. Brown (John E. Harris, Jr.) of Petersburg, Virginia; her son, James A. Brown, Jr. (Mechete Hardy) of Richmond, Virginia; four sisters, Palesta Fitzgerald of Harlem, NY, Alice S. Barner (William), Regina S. Johnson (Ronald), and Delphine E. Simmons-Fowlkes (James) of Blackstone, Virginia; seven grandchildren (Christopher D. Staten, Jashon Mays-Brown, Karma Brown, Kaori Brown, Jaylen Coker, Cassidy-Taylor Brown, Clarissa Brown); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
