Obituary for Marion A. Friend
Marion Adeleide Friend was called home to the be with the Lord on Monday, August 30, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband William Friend, Jr, Son Bryant Friend and siblings Clifford Evans, Walter Evans, Frazer Evans, Helen Dagner, Florence Hawkes, Alberta Clark, Thelma Walker, and Ruth Gibson.
She joined the Mount Level Baptist Church and accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a faithful member who participated in various ministries in the church, the adult choir, missionary, and sisterhood. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
She worked as a domestic housekeeper and with such a loving spirit in raising kids that showed her lots of love in return. She was a fiercely dedicated mom to all her children, raising all four of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to her, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. She was also known as a mother to many of the neighborhood children. Her ability to cook and prepare meals were outstanding; especially her homemade rolls.
She also leaves to cherish three sons Vincent, Alfred, and Ronald; three daughters-in-law Pearl, Linda, and Janet; nine grandchildren Travis, Larry, Ivan, Shawna, RaShawna, Marc, Jacquez, Dion, and Raheem; eleven great grandchildren; three godchildren Gilbert Woodley, William (Tank) Royster, and Willard (Spoon) Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also cherished her family and friends who assisted her during her time of need, especially Pearl Friend, Vanessa Friend, Meriwether (Peter) Evans, Olivia Friend-Bassfield, Ebony Gibson, Roger Lewis and Lois Brown (nursing aid).
