Obituary for Margie S. Owens
Margie S. Owens, 89 passed away peacefully on November 2, 2020 in Amelia, Virginia. She was born on January 5, 1931 to the late Mary Julia Patterson Scott and Willie L. Scott.
Margie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Promise Land Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir, Missionary and Kitchen committee. She was proud to let everyone know how much she loved her church and church family.
Margie worked at Amelia County Public Schools for several years in the cafeteria. She enjoyed talking and laughing with the children daily.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Owens, Sr.; daughter, Katherine Owens; sister, Annie Mae Scott-Jones; and brothers, Adolph Scott and Willie Scott.
Margie leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Brenda (Herbert) Butler, Mary Ann Jenkins, Arlethia (Bruce) McIver; her sons, Joseph (Geraldyne) Owens, Jr., Percell (Marie) Owens, Ike (Joan) Owens, William (Joyce) Owens, Robert (Rosa) Owens; sisters, Alice Tyler, Gladys Person, Helen Royal, Gloria Thompson; brother, Leroy Bailey; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Jennings, Frances Owens; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Owens, Sr. and John Owens, all of Amelia, Virginia; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special and devoted niece, Dorothy Scott.
