Obituary for Margaret Louise Robertson
Margaret was born in Nottoway County, Crewe, VA on Mountain Hall Road to Grace Jeffers. She was raised by her grandparents William (Bill) and Laura Bland Jeffers. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
Margaret was educated at Hickory Grove Schoolhouse in one room. She became a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church at a young age. Later, after the church no longer existed, her membership was moved to Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Margaret was married to Herbert C. Robertson, Sr. on October 16, 1939 (he preceded her in death on April 21, 1961). She also had a long time companion, Benjamin A. Parham (he preceded her in death on June 26, 1998).
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother Grace Jeffers; two children, Herbert C. Robertson, Jr. and Laura Ann Robertson Foster; a brother, Joe Jeffers; and a sister Lillie Mae Highter. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Helen Robertson Simmons of Crewe, VA; one son Roy B. Robertson (Cora) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Romekka L. Simmons (Matthew Hamilton) of Henrico, VA, Tayvon A. Simmons of Crewe, VA, Charia A. Robertson (Rashad Williams) of Hopewell, VA, LaTasha A. Foster of Virginia Beach, VA, Latrita A. Foster of Georgia; son-in-law, Robert E. Foster; great grandchildren, Nevaya Williams, Justin Gilliam and Maliek Rock; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
