Obituary for Marcus K. Diggs
MARCUS KAWUAN DIGGS, age 34, of Richmond Virginia, departed this life due to sudden illness, Friday, October 22, 2010. He was born February 21, 1976, to Preston L. Diggs, Jr., and Jacqueline Bouldin Diggs Hawkes. Marcus was the stepson of his loving and caring stepfather; Michael W. Hawkes of Blackstone, VA. Marcus was educated in the Chesterfield County Public School System and was a 1994 graduate of Thomas Dale High School. Marcus attended Virginia State University and Virginia Commonwealth University. Marcus accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Waverly, under the pastorate of Rev. William N. Bland, Jr. Marcus was the owner of Limited Edition Clothing Store (www.LTM.com). Marcus possessed a sincere fondness for children, the elderly and his favorite pet “Rex”. Marcus actively contributed to local community social programs to include the Daily Planet Men’s Shelter. During Marcus’s extensive travel to the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States, he enjoyed exploring and befriending the locals to understand their culture and traditions. Marcus loved the tranquility of the ocean. He was known through his friends and family to have a generous and caring heart and he will be greatly missed. Marcus was a loyal son and friend to his mother and she knows he will always be by her side in spirit. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Thomas Bouldin, Jr. and Preston Lee Diggs, Sr., his grandmother, Flossie Odom Bouldin, one great grand-mother, Eunice Toliver, one aunt, La Francisa Stewart, and one cousin, Douglas Newsome, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Clay.
Besides his parents and stepfather, he leaves to cherish in his memories; his sister, Lyniece Diggs; his grandmother, Elaine Diggs; a step-grandmother, Rosebud Manning Hawkes and family, of Blackstone; five devoted aunts, Doris B. Bland (Rev. William, Jr.), of Petersburg, Andredoria Newsome (Douglas, Sr.), of Colonial Heights, Rita Blyth and Marcia Diggs, both of San Jose, CA; five uncles, Thomas D. Bouldin, III (Yvonne), of
Chesterfield, Thomas Diggs, of San Diego, CA, Steven Diggs, of Seaside, CA, Robert Stewart, and Stonewall Odom (Marlena), all of Petersburg; three great aunts, Viola Maniego (Morris), Mary Bailey of Colonial Heights, Louellen House, Bronx, NY, and one great uncle, Wallace Bouldin (Rosa), Matoaca, his godmother; Irene J. Blizzard and family, of Chesterfield, seven devoted cousins, Bobbie Stewart, William N. Bland, III (Kimberly Harris), both of Petersburg, Nickia Bland Johnson (Victor), of Prince George, Latoya Bouldin, and Thomas D. Bouldin, IV, both of Florida, Asha Newsome, of Colonial Heights and Wilbert M. Bland, Jr. (Tametria), of Petersburg; special friends, Brooke Anderson, Cherrie King, Steven Johnson, Johndrell Reed, and Kareem Bond; and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 12:00 noon from Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg with interment in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
