Obituary for Mamie Archer
The Lord called home an angel, Mrs. Mamie Christine Archer, age 91 of 11200 Promise Lane Road, Amelia, Virginia on Sunday, September 13, at her residence.
Our mother, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother was a native of Amelia County. She was a sweet, kind and loving person. It was nothing to her to try to help someone if she could and always had a kind word to everyone she met. She did domestic work for a number of years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a worshipping member of Promise Land Baptist Church and was a member of the Promise Land Senior Choir until her health began to decline.
She was born to the late Deacon Sidney Epps Sr. and the late Correnthia Epps on July 29, 1929, in Amelia County. Her mother and father had thirteen children, she was the last one to past. During her younger days she did a lot of canning fruits and vegetables. She also made homemade preserves and wine while humming her favorite hymns. She was ahead of time with her fashionable nails and “listen ladies hers were real”.
She was married to the late Lloyd Archer Sr. from this union they had four sons and three daughters: Lewis (Judy), Lloyd P. Jr. (Shirley), William (Jackie) and Raymond (deceased) (Janice) Archer all of Amelia, VA; Margaret Evans (Michael) of Chesterfield, VA, Estelle (deceased) of Amelia, VA and Pearl Bolding (Robert) of Jetersville, VA; three sisters-in-law: Dora Lee Epps of NJ, Mary Jeter of Amelia, VA and Fannie Boone of NC; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and two former daughter; Sarah Archer and Pontgine Archer.
