Macktoy Hawkes passed from this life on Friday, July 21, 2023 in Blackstone, Virginia. He was born on January 1, 1950 to Richard and Rosa Mae Hawkes in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.
At an early age, he joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia.
Macktoy joined the Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired from welding in the State of Virginia.
Macktoy was married to his devoted wife for fifty-one years, Juanita (Epes) Hawkes on April 22, 1972 and to this union they had two sons, Monte Hawkes (Liz) of Texas and Shawn Hawkes (Lou) of North Carolina and one step-daughter, Dawn Michelle Farmer of Richmond, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosa Mae Hawkes; grandson, Terrence “T” Hawkes; three brothers, Leroy (Yvonne), Clifton and Richard Hawkes, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his granddaughters, Shawna and Angelina; grandsons, Monte Jr., and Shamar; step-grandson, Marcus; step-granddaughters, Tierra, Cierra, Shaneka and Sharnice; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton and Ernest of Blackstone, Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Cathy Hawkes of Blackstone, Virginia, Carrie Hawkes of Warfield, Virginia, Thelma Black of Oakland, California and Esther Jackson of Farmville, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Willie Epes of Baltimore, Maryland and Andrew Black of Blackstone, Virginia; two aunts, Gloserine Bradser of Maryland and Martha Bridgeforth of Blackstone, Virginia; two uncles, Arthur Jackson of Blackstone, Virginia; a devoted uncle and friend, Paul Douglas Epes of Blackstone, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial Services Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 1:00PM at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone.
Interment private.
