Obituary for Mac C. McLeod
MAC C. MCLEOD was born in Vidalia, in Tomb County, Georgia on May 1, 1919.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and served his country during World War II where he earned an European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 1 star and also received a Victory Medal.
Mac worked as a True Loyal 31st degree Mason.
He moved to Blackstone in 1983. he worked at Fort Pickett for a number of years.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5313 in Nottoway County. He held office at Post 5313 as Officer of Day Loyalty Day Chairman, Junior Vice-Senior Vice Commander and Post Commander. He also served as 4th District Senior Vice Commander.

On May 9, 2010, Mac McLeod fought his final earthly battle. Cherished memories of Mac will forever be remembered by his wife Julia McLeod; his daughters, Maxine Casdehem of New York, Jackie Oglesby (Joe) of South Carolina, Carolyn Jackson (James) of Blackstone, and Florence Wilson (James, Jr.) of Richmond; his sons, Robert Stokes of Blackstone and Julian Stokes (Monette) of Las Vegas: one sister, Rosa Ross of New York; one nephew, Jimmy Lee Curuther of Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.
Funeral Services Monday, May 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion R.Z.U.A. Church, Blackstone with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
