“Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I’m put out to sea.”
Early Monday morning on March 10, 2025 our lives was changed drastically forever when our Heavenly Father touched our Beloved Monarch, Mabel Elaine Featherston Harris with His final finger of love and beckoned for her to enter her heavenly home free from the cares of this world.
Mabel was the fourth child of ten children born to the late Clinton and Mabel Ruth Featherston. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Amelia County, Virginia. She received her education in the Public Schools of Amelia County.
At an early age in her life, she confessed Christ as her Lord & Savior was baptized and became a member of the Bethia Baptist Church Family. She remained a loyal & supportive member down through the years. She served faithfully on the Usher Board for many years. She brought up her children in the admiration of the Lord.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Everett Nelson Harris, Sr. on October 8, 1948 and from this union two sons were born: Everett Jr. and Joel C. Harris.
“Mabel” was affectionately called Mae Mae by her family and friends. She was a God-fearing woman who stayed committed to the tasks that the Lord had given her, a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a hard worker and committed to whatever she had to perform. She loved flowers and she was willing to share them with whoever wanted them. She was an excellent cook and she fed many family members and neighborhood children with her delicious recipes. Mabel was kind- hearted with an unselfish genuine spirit. She loved her family and she was willing to go the extra mile to make sure that they had what they needed.
She leaves with her family a rich legacy of love, commitment and unwavering devotion. God blessed her to live to reach an age that many will not see and to witness things that many thought would never be.
