Obituary for Lula G. Henderson
Deaconess Lula G. Henderson, daughter of the late Bernice and Ruben Green Sr., was born August 17, 1934.
Lula joined Second Antioch Baptist church at an early age. She loved the Lord and enjoyed singing faithfully as a member of the J. W. Henderson Choir until her illness.
Lula was an employee of Chesterfield County Schools and Powhatan County Schools until her retirement.
Deaconess Lula G. Henderson departed this life May 17, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ruben Green Jr., Lucy Mills, Deaconess Shirley J. Wade and Evangelist Dorothy Redding.
Lula leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Deacon Fred L. Henderson, Sr.; two devoted daughters, Delores Smith (Eddie) and Loretta Henderson (Charles, Jr.) and one loving son, Franklin “Frankie” R. Jackson. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Calvin Smith (Tam), Terrell Bell (Pam), Anthony Henderson, Sr. (Danjile), Corey Goode, Rodney Smith, Katrina Bell, Brandon Henderson (Tiffany), and Shawn Henderson; six great- grandchildren, Kaylin Malmberg, Jada Henderson, Jaden Bell, Cameron Smith, Sydney Smith, and Anthony Henderson, Jr. (AJ); three sisters, Mary Benjamin, Elizabeth Chappell, Helen Booker; one brother: Willie Green Sr. (Gertrude). She also leaves to cherish her spirit, six step children, four sisters in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them devoted niece Belinda Taylor.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lula Green Henderson will be held Friday at 12:00 Noon at Second Antioch Baptist Church, Powhatan with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
