Obituary for Lovelace L. Moore, Sr.
Lovelace Lee Moore, Sr. passed away December 24, 2011 in Snellville, Georgia at the Embracing Hospice at the Eastside Heritage Center. He was born on March 2, 1929 in Henderson, North Carolina to Haywood and Daisy Moore.Â
Lovelace married Ethel Ford from Smithfield, Virginia in 1954. Both were united in marriage for fifty-two years until Ethel departed this life in 2006. He was the father of Lovelace L. Moore Jr. of Richmond, Virginia and Aaron W. Moore of Snellville, Georgia.Â
Throughout his life, Lovelace devoted his time to the care of his family, his church and the Masonic Lodge. As a deacon at First Nottoway Baptist Church for decades, his tireless contribution to the church was selfless, reaching out to many in the church as a friend and companion. Through his life, Lovelace worked as a Laboratory Technician at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, in Burkeville, Virginia.Â
Known as a very gifted singer, Lovelace was a member of the Traveling Kingsmen Quartet for many years and enjoyed the association and comradeship with the members of the group. Whether he was at church, singing, or carrying out his responsibilities with the Masons, he always did it with a smile and pleasant attitude. For persons who have known him for years, being a fan of the Washington Redskins was always topic of conversation, whether they were winning or losing.Â
In addition to his two children he is survived by his sister Maggie Hall, daughters-in-law Cynthia, Melissa, grandson Donovan and several cousins and nephews in New York, New Jersey and Virginia.Â
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe, Virginia.
