Mrs. Lorraine "Rainey" Ellis departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Lorraine grew up in Gloucester, VA. She later moved Richmond, VA where she became employed at MCV Hospital. She then met the love of her life, Joseph Ellis. After raising her three daughters, she went to work alongside her husband for many years at Joe's Auto Service, formerly in downtown Richmond. Lorraine was a breast cancer survivor who never slowed down during her treatment. she took pride in caring for her family, and she always displayed unconditional love, care, selflessness and resilience.
she is survived by her loving husband of more than fifty years, Joseph E. Ellis; her three daughters, Deborah Smith (Jerome), Pamela Hazelwood (Chris) and JoAnn Lewis (Curtis); five grandchildren, Janai, Briana, Jovone, Jerome Jr., and Jonae; one brother-in-law, Nathaniel Weseley of Gloucester, VA; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-0law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, 15001 Patrick Henry Highway, Amelia, VA where viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the American Breast Cancer Society.
