On Saturday, April 25, 2025, the angels came down and carried home Lonnie Harper, Jr., affectionately known as Billy or Mr. Billy. He was born June 16, 1947 to Lonnie Sr. and Pauline Harper.
He was educated in Nottoway County public school.
Billy joined the army in September 1967. While serving he was awarded Sharpshooter, National Defense Service medal and Armed Forced Expeditionary medal (Korea). He also served in the Vietnam war.
After serving his country with honors and perseverance, he decided to begin work life in various occupation, retiring from Taylor and Ramsey.
On July 22, 1967 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Eunice O. Harper. They welcomed one daughter Tangila Harper.
Billy devoted his life to his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed at family and friends gathering and function.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Sr. and Pauline Harper; and his son, Lonnie Price.
Billy leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and precious daughter Tangila H. Smith and devoted son-in-law Landus Smith; one loving grandson Landus Smith, Jr. his loving sibling Gladys Smith, Larue (Sharon) Harper, Barbara Tucker, George (Marie) Berkley, James (Lillian) Coleman, Glenda (Richard) Yates, Nellie (Russell) Dove, Theodore (Cynthia) Coleman. sister-in-law Hazel Jefferson and brother-in-law Junious Oliver, Jr. Special nieces and nephew Theresa Oliver, Angela Tucker-Epps, Fanita Cooke, Frankie Oliver, Stephen Smith and Guy Smith. and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
