Obituary for Lonnie Eugene Price
Mr. Lonnie Eugene Price (also called Hop & LP), son of Bessie Phillips and Lonnie Harper, Jr. was born February 15, 1964. When Lonnie heard his name whispering in the wind on Saturday morning June 22, 2019 around 9:30 a.m. in Blackstone, VA he answered the call.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Phillips; stepfather, James Phillips; his grandmother who raised him, Hester Price; and a brother, Russell Price.
At an early age Lonnie was baptized and joined Yielding Zion Baptist Church. He was educated in the Nottoway County Public School system.
Lonnie was a loving and devoted son, companion, stepfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He loved being with his family and had a contagious laugh that went all over the place. He loved meeting up with his nephews and cousins to get that game of horseshoe going.
Lonnie leaves to mourn his passing: his devoted companion of fifteen years, Annie Jefferson; stepson, Anthony Jackson; step-grandson, William Rather; six sisters, Janice, Catina, Jamie (Adam), Mary (Herbert), Tangie (Landus) and Jacqueline; one brother, James Phillips, Jr.; six nieces, Ashley, Cierre (his free taxi), Shaquesha, Enifinatie, JaNiah and Destiny; nine nephews, Karon (whom he took under his wings as his little brother and became best friends), Cedric, Dwight, Melvin, Kevin, JaQuel, Jeremiah, Montel and JaSiah; four aunts, Constance, Alice, Mae and Winnie; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Lonnie our hearts are broken, but you left such beautiful memories with all of us that
we will hold so dear to our hearts. “Fly High Our Guardian Angel Lonnie”
