“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”. 2 Corinthians 5:8
The Lord blessed Lois Marie Eanes with 80 years on this earth, and the Lord called her to her eternal home. Lois was a mother, friend to many, full of kindness, always helpful and desired to leave everyone she met with a full stomach.
She was born on April 6, 1944, to John Lewis Eanes and Lottie Foster Eanes in Crewe, VA. She was the youngest of six children. She was preceded in death by John Eanes, Jr. (brother), Mary Louis Eanes (sister), John Lewis Eanes (father), Lottie Foster Eanes (mother), James Edward “Steven” Eanes (brother), and Charles Henry Eanes (brother).
Lois became a member of Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church from an early age. After graduating from Luther H. Foster High school (currently Nottoway High School), she moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut with her sisters where she lived and worked for many years. Lois attended college and secretarial school, worked as a nursing assistant, and held multiple managerial positions over the years. She eventually moved back to Virginia.
Known and loved for her passion for cooking, especially her homemade rolls; Lois loved to feed people; helping was in her spirit, and she always had a soft spot for the elderly.
She realized her dream of owning her own restaurant back in the day, E&A’s Starlight Cafe. Her favorite shows were The Price Is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Sharon Renee Valentin (Jajuan De Las Aguas Valentin) Farmville, VA and Denise Eanes Miller, Richmond, VA; a sister, Doris Lenora Eanes, Crewe, VA, her grandchildren: Valencia De La Alegría Valentin, Michael Dante Eanes, Dequan Jhamel Eanes-Booker (Marquel ‘Quel’ Carmine); her great-grandchildren: Jhamaya ‘Maya’ Eanes, Jhamel ‘Mel’ Eanes, Alisha ‘Mouse’ Justice, Alonda Monae ‘MO’ Eanes, Keron Kirkland, Misena Hicks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
