Obituary for Lois T. Smith
Lois was the youngest daughter of Willie Wesley and Bettie Ford Thompson's 10 children.

She accepted Christ and committed to serve Him at an early age. After becoming a disciple of Gravel Hill Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School secretary for many years.  She was faithful in attendance and support.

From her Union in 1948 to the late Winston Smith of Amelia: Winston Cornell (Esther), Eddie (Dolores), Patricia, Deborah Davidson (Raymond), Jerry (Crystal). Also to cherish her memory, her youngest brother Robert (Bobby) Thompson (Alice); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Sarah Thompson, Florence Thompson, Jourdinia Smith Brown, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends.

Lois attended the historic R. R. Morton, Howard and Virginia State Universities. She was employed with Amelia County Public Schools.

She moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2009 to be close to her children.  She favored visitations, conversations, and festivities centered around family and food. The finishing touches of any good meal was cake, pie, cookies or rice pudding, and of course, ice cream!

Lois could often be heard singing the words to the hymn “Precious Lord”. Her heart stopped beating at 6:30 am June 18, 2021.
