Obituary for Little Thomas Wade
On the early morning of Monday, May 22, 2023, our loved one Little Thomas Wade entered into eternal rest at his residence, 11300 Winterham Rd., Amelia, VA 23002.
Tom, son of the late Willie James and Dora J. Wade was born September 9, 1933. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined the Promise Land Baptist Church.
He received his education from Promise Land School and Russell Grove High School. After finishing school he served in the United States Army and Reserve. Receiving a Letter of Commendation of Cargo Truck Master. The commendation stated “Cheerfully you worked long hours, and weekends, your only concern is to get the job done. You posses the ability, aggressiveness and imagination. It is due to the efforts of individuals of your high caliber that the Antilles Transportation Motor Pool has such a big rating in its operation.”
At the church he served in many capacities, Chairman of Trustee Board for forty-one years, builder of the fellowship hall, renovation of Church sanctuary. A licensed carpenter and contractor, he specialized in building and renovation. He serves as Superintendent of Sunday School for twenty-three years.
He worked many years with the Amelia County Fair and the Amelia County Building Committee. He also served over forty-five years with the Electoral Board in Amelia County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis V. and Leroy Wade; sisters. Lucelia W. Richardson, Lillian Wade, Lillie Mae W. Taylor and Lorris W. Archer.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife Florence R. Wade who stood by his side for sixty-five years; son Martin E. Wade (Gloria); sisters-in-law, Muriel Gass (Eugene), Alice R. Royal (William); brothers-in-law, Robert Robinson (Alfreda), Wayne Robinson (Hilda), Ernest Robinson (Irene), James E. Robinson, Edward F. Taylor and Mason Archer Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral Service Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 12:00PM at Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia
Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
