Obituary for Lillie G. Epps
Lillie Grace (Scruggs) Epps, 89 of Richmond, VA died on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Lucy Corr Nursing Home in Chesterfield, VA. She was born December 2, 2931 in Powhatan, VA to Freeman and Ida M. (Redd) Scruggs.

She attended Pocahontas High School from 1948 to 1950. In 1959, she moved to New York., where she attended Rochambeau School and received a certificate of completion as a clerk typist in the 70’s. She began working as a data entry clerk and retired from Loral Electronics after twenty years in the 80’s.

As a young girl, she became a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and was baptized in the pond on 60 West. She later became a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, VA where she served as a cook for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, collecting antiques, looking at antique shows, listening to her music, and her drink.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Ida Scruggs; her spouse, Waverly L. Epps, Sr.; son, Stacey C. Epps; and daughter, Theresa A. Lee.

She is survived by her son, Waverly L. Epps, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, NY; daughter, Sandra R. Matlock of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a sister, Annie Mayo of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, Kermit Clements of Richmond, VA; other relatives and friends.

Viewing Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Graveside Service Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hollywood Baptist Church, 3964 Old Buckingham Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.
