Obituary for Lewis A. Lee, Sr.
Lewis Austin Lee Sr. was born on May 22, 1929 in Rice, Virginia, to the late Deacon Albert Lee and Mable Miller Lee.
Lewis attended Prince Edward County Public Schools. He joined High Rock Baptist Church at an early age. Â In 1948 Lewis enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois; Pensacola, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; The Philippines; Imperial Beach, California and other areas during his military career. In 1970, he retired and received an Honorable Discharge after 22 years of service. He received his Real Estate and Broker License and later retired from that profession.
He was preceded in death by two sons; Lewis Lee Jr., Joseph Gant Sr.;  son-in-law Charles E. Oliver Sr.; seven siblings: Benjamin Lee, Omega Johnson, Vera Flippin-Fitzgerald, Janet Pewitt, Clinton Lee, Perry ‘Banks’ Lee, and Murray Bennett.
He leaves to cherish his memories six children; Warren Lee (Sylvia), Debra Oliver, Pamela Anthony-Bernier (Kent), Jeannette Payne, Reginald Lee (Liz), and Michael Lee; one daughter-in-law Diana Gant; two brothers; Alvin ‘Jake’ Lee (Helen), and James Mark Lee (Iona); one sister; Mattie Day; nineteen grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Queen Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at High Rock Baptist Church, Rice with interment to follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
