Early in life, she joined the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church but later united with the Mount Nebo Missionary Church in Crewe, Virginia. For many years, she faithfully served in her church as well as an active member for the Missionary Society.
In 1953, she moved away tot Connecticut. There she met and married the late Marquest Scott in 1958. As years passed, they traveled to Crewe, Virginia and made it their home.
Lennell loved outdoors; her yard and beautiful flowers are true reflections of her passion ofr gardening. She truly believed that God was the author and finisher of her faith. In general conversation, you would often hear her quote "And I Thank You" and "I Understand." Her final words on this side were "I KNOW JESUS."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marquest Scott of Crewe, Virginia; parents, Jimmy Leonard and Ruby Rosser-Owens; three sisters, Maddell Owens-Blount, Alice Owens-Clements, and Ella Mae Owens-Rosser; and brother, Johnny Hubert Owens.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell (Johnny) Rosser; a dear granddaughter and husband, Latonya (Bennie) Fuller; two grandsons, Christopher and Darrell (Kinberlea) Owens; three great grandsons, DeMorrio (Natahsa) Fuller, Beontae Fuller, and RUssell Mathis; one great granddaughter, Shaylatiah Owens; one great-great granddaughter, Layla A. Fuller; two loving sisters, Lorena Owens and Sophia (Nathaniel) Cleveland; one brother, Albert Owens; two brothers-in-law, Charlie and Nathaniel Cleveland; and a host of other relatives and friends including her extended family, "The Rathers" of Crewe, Virginia.
