Obituary for Lelia Mae Wynn
Lelia Mae Hurt Wynn was born June 5, 1940 to the late Hunter and Lelia Ann Hurt. She departed this life on May 21, 2008 at Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill, Virginia.
She was predeceased by her parents; Hunter and Lelia Hurt, sisters Frances and Mary, and a brother; Hunter Russell.
She began her early education at Oak Grove Public School and later finished her education at Lunenburg High School. Lelia was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of the Sunday School, Choir, Missionary Ministry, and the Pastor’s Aid Ministry. She enjoyed singing with her sisters, The Hurt Sisters until the group reorganized as The Hurt Family. She also loved playing the piano.
Lelia married Clarence M. Wynn, Sr. on September 15, 1957. To this union three children were born; a son, Clarence, and two daughters, Clarissa and Carlene.
Lelia was employed as a seamstress at Nis Manufacturer which later became Kenbridge Sportswear for eighteen years.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Clarence M. Wynn, Sr.; a son, Clarence (Wanda); two daughters, Clarissa and Carlene; five sisters, Katherine (Norman); Dorothy; Edith (Robert); Christine (Robert); and Margaret; one brother, Floyd; sisters & brothers in-law; Annie Mae; Arthur (Laverne); Samuel (Willie), Reverend Andrew Wynn; James (Frances); Bernice; Alfred; five aunts; one uncle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and devoted friend of the family, Lamon Collins.
Funeral Service Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge with interment in the Wynn Family Cemetery, Victoria.
